The Unique Identification Office of India (UIDAI) is developing a mobile application for AADHAAR holders, which offers digital services such as updating personal data without having to visit offline centers.
The Aadhaar mobile application is trying to eliminate the need for Indian citizens to physically visit Aadhaar Seva Kendras to change any personal data available at hand.
According to a report on the financial express exhibition quoted by a government official who is aware of development, the mobile application is expected to be published for public use by the end of 2025.
What is E-Aadhaar?
The new E-Aadhaar mobile application allows users to update their key personal data, including their name and residential address, using their smartphones.
According to more media reports, the application is to focus on digital solutions for people to minimize dependence on personal visits to Aadhaar enrollment centers across the country.
Uidai develops a mobile application using artificial intelligence technology and Face ID technology. The application will provide users with secure and trouble -free AADHAAR digital services.
Since November 2025, people will only have to visit the record centers for biometric authentication, which includes scanning fingerprints and IRIS for recording purposes.
The goal of moving UIDAI is to simplify the update process, eliminate the need for extensive paperwork, minimize the risk of identity fraud and improve the speed of the whole process.
How to update personal information?
Once the new e-Aadhaar application has been launched, users will be able to log in to the mobile app and change their personal data, including name, address, date of birth and more.
In addition to the features to help users change their personal data, the government also allows the application to automatically collect user data from verified government sources.
These data collected will include documents such as birth certificates, PAN cards, passports, driving licenses, additional cards from the public distribution system (PDS) and records from the MNREGA scheme.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) in February 2025 launched the Aadhaar Good Governance Portal portal, which seeks to simplify the approval process for AADHAAR authentication.
Along with the upcoming mobile application, the portal is also expected to improve accessibility and support greater inclusivity in the Aadhaar system.
