The Constitution (One Hundred and Thirty-First Amendment) Bill 2026 proposes significant changes to the size and composition of state legislatures by restarting the delimitation process and removing a long-standing constitutional freeze in place since 1976 on the allocation of seats by population.
The bill will be introduced in a special session of parliament starting on April 16.
