The DGCA is investigating an incident where a trainee pilot was injured by an aircraft propeller at the Kanpur airport

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) also said it had issued instructions that the aircraft in question should not be used pending an investigation.

Aviation patrol DGCA is investigating the incident of a trainee pilot who sustained injuries after he was hit by a running propeller of a training aircraft at the Kanpur airport on Friday (June 26, 2026).

The incident occurred after a trainee pilot exited the twin-engine Tecnam P2006T VT-NBV aircraft, and the instructor concerned has been relieved of flight training duties pending an investigation, the DGCA said in a statement on Sunday (Jun 28, 2026).

An aircraft of Garg Aviation, a flying training organization, was engaged in night instruction flying at Kanpur (Chakeri) Airport.

“There was a flight instructor and a cadet on board the aircraft. After landing, the trainee pilot exited the aircraft with the engine running. The cadet sustained back injuries due to the impact of the running propellers. She is admitted to a hospital in Kanpur,” the statement said.
