With the increasing number of devotees who suffered injuries from the slip along the Neelimal section, Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) again closed the path of Neelimal on Pampa – Sannidhanam Trekking road in Sabarimala.
Thirteen devotees suffered injuries on Saturday, while the hills in the middle of heavy rain descended after the evening of Darshan at Kopc’s Shrine. All injured were given first aid in the Pampa General Hospital and later moved to the general hospital of Pathanamthitta for further treatment.
Then the police team threw itself from the memory and stopped trekking on the way of Neelimal.
President TDB PS Prasanth, who confirmed the development, said that steps were introduced to start work to improve granite stones located along the trekking path from Pammy to Marakoottam. Meanwhile, devotees are now allowed to move on the Swami Ayyappan road.
“The process involves applying high -temperature flame flames to the surface of the stone stairs, causing expansion and fractures of minerals in the rock. Due to the favorable weather, the work is scheduled to be completed in a few months.
Recent incident
Formerly 16th June, the route was similarly closed after about 30 dedicated to injured, while the monthly loan associated with the Malaysian Moon Mithunama came. After this incident, the Travancore Devaswom Council announced that the route would only be reopened after the granite stones were laid along the road to make the slip resistant. Despite this certainty, the route was reopened without the introduction of the promised safety work.
The traditional trekking path, a vital segment of the forest pilgrimage path, was paved with stones at the price of CRORE 12 GBP as part of Swadesh Darshan Scheme two years ago.
The continuous decline from the pilgrim lakes over time polished stones, so it is dangerously smooth, especially during the monsoons, when moss, rotting leaves and mud increase the risk.
