
A 43-year-old man drowned in Jampanna Vaga in Medaram during the Sammakka-Saralamma Maha Jatara on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased was identified as M. Kiran, who had come to Medaram along with his family to attend the biennial tribal fair from Mancherial. Allegedly, he accidentally drowned while taking a holy bath in a stream.
Personnel of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) recovered the body after about an hour of search operations. The body was later taken to Mulugu Government Hospital for post-mortem. In another incident, a 45-year-old devotee died of a heart attack in Medaram. The deceased has been identified as Siddagoni Shankar, a resident of Zaffergadh village in Raghunathapalli mandal of Jangaon district. He came to Medaram to attend the biennial tribal fair.
