The Deputy Commissioner of Police emphasizes strict rotation of duties

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East Division), Mithun Kumar GK, directed constables to ensure strict implementation of duty rotation among police personnel during inspection at Amruthahalli police station.

The police drew attention to this question during the inspection, which also examined administration, investigations, personnel security and the provision of public services.

The inspection was conducted as directed by the Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City.

During the inspection, the DCP reviewed the administrative and investigation records, heard the complaints of the police personnel and ordered that the outstanding issues be resolved expeditiously. Apart from highlighting the implementation of rotation, the service personnel also highlighted the issues related to the backlog of the maintenance allowance (DA) of ex-servicemen serving in the police department. The DCP accepted their representation and assured them that the matter would be addressed.

The inspection also focused on the accelerated liquidation of vehicles seized in criminal cases and unclaimed vehicles in accordance with legal procedures. Case property management (Muddemal), record keeping and police station security arrangements were reviewed.

The DCP reviewed the progress of investigations and court cases, directed investigating officers to conduct quality investigations, file charge-sheets within stipulated time and closely monitor court proceedings. The station was also instructed to organize a Victims’ Day every month to hear the grievances of the victims and facilitate legal aid and support.

Special emphasis was placed on strengthening rhythm enforcement and police control. The staff have been directed to hold regular Sub-Beat meetings to create awareness about cyber crime, drug abuse, women and child safety, road safety and other crime prevention measures. They were also instructed to keep the station clean, ensure proper records management, enforce staff discipline, execute outstanding warrants, keep a close eye on rowdy and habitual offenders, make effective use of CCTV surveillance systems and provide prompt, citizen-friendly police services.

After the inspection, an outdoor briefing was conducted for officers and staff of Amruthahalli, Bagalur, Chikkajala, Yelahanka New Town and Kothanur police stations. They have been instructed to intensify Cheetah and Hoysala patrols in markets, bus stands, temples and other crowded places, maintain constant vigil on suspicious persons, vehicles and activities and take precautionary measures to avert untoward incidents.

The personnel were further directed to respond quickly to emergency calls, maintain law and order, strengthen patrols, interact courteously with the public and perform their duties responsibly to enhance public confidence and ensure a safe and peaceful environment throughout the North East Division.
