Through the coordinated efforts of the School Education and District Administration Department within the District Educational Excellence Program (DeEP), the Nagapattinam district recorded a significant improvement in the results of the class 12 and climbed from 37 to 11.
The total percentage of the district passes from 91.19 in 2023–24 (37th rank) to 96.03 in 2024–25 (11th rank), which meant one of the most important year -on -year improvements in recent years. The district was earlier in 33.
MKC Subhashini, Chief Educational Director, has attributed progress to permanent and common efforts. “Several teachers and headmasters of government schools selflessly devoted themselves to supporting students, especially from a marginalized environment.” She said.
The main part of the success was the “project 100”, a special initiative under Deep, which has identified 30 permanently with low power over the last three years. In these schools there were a meeting with all parties involved – including teachers, school management committees, Presidents Panchayat and administrative officials in villages – to follow long absence and pay focused attention.
Unique approach
While all districts in Tamil Nadu distributed minimal teaching materials (MLMS), Nagapattinam accepted a more focused and differentiated strategy for extremely weak students. The district chose its best teachers to the author of his own MLM content and created reserved WhatsApp groups for all 13 subjects to coordinate efforts.
What Nagapattinam separated was its intentional simplification of these materials – the compressor is further than the standard MLM – to alleviate anxiety between fighting students. “We found that the bulky inspection remarks created fear of weaker students. So we gave them extremely brief, focused notes and repeatedly tested them. It reduced their stress and increased confidence,” the government teacher said.
The MLM authors cooperated directly with school subjects through online meetings to improve content and solve doubts. For these students, repeated revisions, doubts and mentoring were preferred for the subject, especially in recent weeks leading to the exam.
Since last June, government schools have also introduced 15-25 tests and monthly assessments daily to build practice and overcome the fear of exams. “Before the students faced the final exam, they were self -confident and well prepared,” she added.
