The reduction in the number of voters following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll compared to the 2021 assembly elections played a vital role in increasing voter turnout in all 16 assembly segments in Chennai district on Thursday.
According to preliminary voter turnout data shared by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the voter turnout in Chennai district was 83.41% as of 8:00 pm on election day, significantly higher than the 59.75% recorded in the 2021 assembly elections.
