The Minister of Transport Ponnam Prabhakar issued a strong refutation to the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working President KT Rama Rao and urged him to engage in a transparent and formal debate in the assembly, not in the press club.
Mr. Prabhakar, who spoke to reporters, remembered that the Chief Minister of Revanth Reddy asked the opposition leader K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) to formally write a speaker who demands a discussion on the Banakacherlo project and water problems. Let the living debate take place in the assembly, where the debate should take place according to democratic practice, he said.
“Maybe he didn’t know about the request of CM the opposition leader because he was away from the ground for some time,” he said.
Mr. Prabhakar questioned the logic looking for a debate in the press club and that such a demand came from the former Minister and Mla. “We can come to the press club and debate, but such debates should take place in the assembly, not in press conferences,” he said.
Regarding the Banakacherla disputed project, he claimed that the decision was taken by the previous BRS government, in particular coordination with the then Chief Minister Andr Pradesh Yagan Mohan Reddy, endaled the water rights of Telangana. “Everyone is aware of who made sure he uses Godavari water for Rayalaseem?” he asked.
He said that the Congress Government is not against Rayalaseem or no region, but is firm to protect the interests of Telangans. “We will not endanger the rights of telangans, no matter who is in power across the border,” he said.
