The date for completion of road work at Bhogapuram airport is set for July 10

District Collector M Abhishikth Kishore on Friday directed officials to complete all pending works on priority roads identified under the Master Plan 2041 by July 10 to ensure seamless connectivity before the Bhogapuram International Airport opens.

Reviewing the progress of road projects in a meeting held at the Collectorate, Mr. Kishore said that road infrastructure, traffic management measures and public transport measures should be put in place before the airport opens.

He instructed the officials to speed up road widening at Marikavalasa junction to ease traffic congestion and complete the work on Adavivaram-Sontyam road, except the sections under the forest department.

A comprehensive plan should be prepared to improve connectivity at Sontyam Junction, while development work at Kapuluppada Junction and Bheemili-Dorathota Junction should also be expedited, he said.

Mr. Kishore directed the officials to complete the ongoing work on Vepagunta-Pinagadi road and speed up the construction of Vepagunta-Juttada road. He emphasized that the roads connecting the national highways should be built keeping in mind the future traffic requirements.

The Collector also directed officials to install signboards guiding commuters to the airport, issue traffic alerts with travel time and alternative routes and ensure introduction of electric buses. APSRTC Regional Manager informed the meeting that the buses would be ready by July 9 and other services would be operated using locally available buses if required.
