On Monday evening, several Dalit organizations organized a spontaneous protest in Kalaburagagi and condemned the incident in which the lawyer threw the volume of papers on the chief judge BR Gavai inside the Supreme Court.
The protesters marched on the main streets to the office deputy commissioners such as “Down with Communalism”, such as “down with Communalism”, “down with castes” and “shame to those who insult the judiciary”.
Operation on the main road in front of the deputy commissioner was briefly disrupted when the demonstrators blocked the road and shouted the slogans condemning the law.
Members of Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (KDSS) led the march and described the incident as an attack on the dignity of the judiciary and a deliberate attempt at an insult to the Dalit judge holding the Supreme Court in the country.
KDSS STATE CONVENER DG SAGAR said that this act is not only an individual incorrect, but a reflection of “deeply rooted caste and reaction thinking”, which continues to question Indian democratic and constitutional values, not only individual but reflection “deeply rooted caste and reaction thinking”.
“This shameful act is the handicraft of forces that despise the constitution and the poor. Those who are behind it are Manuvadis who do not have respect for the judiciary or the people of that country. The government must take strict legal steps against those responsible, including those who supported such behavior,” Sagar said.
The leaders said the attack was associated with ideological hostility that some groups have against the family of Mr. Gavai. They pointed out that the main judge’s mother had previously refused to invite to participate in the RSS event, suggesting that the incident could be motivated by indignation over this rejection.
Later, the protesters submitted a memorandum addressed to the President through district officials and demanded a strict punishment for those who are behind the law and urged the Union government to protect the dignity of constitutional institutions.
Prominent activists, including Suresh Hadimani, SP Sullad, Ambanna Jeevanagi, BC Wali, Krishnappa Karanik H. Shankar, Mahadev Taranalli, Umesh Naron and Subhash Dange, participated in a demonstration that drew participation from several parts of the district.
