On Thursday (July 10, 2025), the headquarters of the University of Kerala again changed to the battlefield, because the protests of various left -wing student and youth organizations have intensified inside and outside the premises. The deepening of the administrative distance also changed the campus to the political point of flare.
Agitation, focused on Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Alelekar and vice -chairman who has an authorized Mohanan Kunnummal, began when the Federation of Students All India (AISF) violated police barricades to enter the campus. Soon after, members of the Indian Federation of Democratic Youth (Dyfi) marched to the university and tried to cross the police lines, which made the right to use the water cannons. Later, activists of all India (Aiyf) also arrived on the scene, led to another police event.

The State Secretary of Dyfi VK Sanoj, who addressed the protest outside the university, launched a scary attack against the governor and vice -chairman and accused them of functioning as “agents” Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and undermined constitutional values in the higher education system. “Governor carries out the municipal agenda of the RSS under the pretext of constitutional authority,” he accused.

The Dyfi leader also accused Congress of Malt with Municipal Forces by supporting the Governor’s actions. He said Dyfi would protest against Keraral in coordination with the Indian Student Federation (SFI).
Registration Reports for Service
Meanwhile, the university’s internal conflict turned another when the KS Anil Kumar registrar announced to service, despite the command from the vice -chairman who recorded its entry into the premises. Security staff allowed Mr. Kumar to enter and told MediaperSon: “Let the law take your course” before taking his office.
At the same time, the Chancellor issued a formal order that assigned the registrar’s responsibility to the director (planning and development) Mini Dejo Kappen. The officials were instructed not to pass on any files to Mr. Kumar.
Mr. Kunnummal did not come to the campus and allegedly expected increased protests. SFI, who attacked the premises two days ago, warned that he would block his entry if he tried to return.
A heavy police contingent, numbering of more than 500 officers, including strengthening from the Kollam district, was deployed around and inside the campus. The entry is strictly monitored and ID checks were mandatory for students, employees and visitors.
