The popular travel vlogger Lexie Alford recently shared the worrying experience she had when she left Nigeria. Alford, who published on Instagram, said the immigration officer made a worrying remark: “If it were up to me, I wouldn’t allow you to leave your country.
The incident occurred in daylight surrounded by other officers. Alford was alone while holding a passport.
“I was too shocked to even answer. He’s one of the various things he ever told me, and got worse by coming from someone in the position of power,” she wrote.
Despite the incident, Alford stressed that her intention was not to discourage women from traveling. Instead, she urged others to be aware of, trust their instincts and continued to explore the world.
“I share it not to discourage women from traveling, but to be real about unpleasant and sometimes dangerous situations that can happen anywhere. Stay aware, trust your intestine and continue. The world is still worth examining,” she wrote.
