
The driver and owner of the tempo, who fell into Unnacatti lakes on the Mysurur-Nanjangud road, who declared a total of 31 lives in December 2010, was convicted on Friday in Mysur.
The Chethan driver, who is the main accused, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison and was slapped with a punishment of 12,600 GBP. The owner of the vehicle, Sanjeev, was sentenced to 10,000 GBP in prison for one year.
The assistant of the prosecutor Mn Sowmya said that the eleventh other judge CJ and JMFC Sanjay M. Mallikarjunaiah found that Chethan guilty of crime in various parts of the Indian Criminal Code and the Act on Motor Vehicles and Sanjeev was found guilty of a crime under the 192-A law on motor vehicles.
According to Mrs. Sowmya, about 40 passengers wore the pace of about 40, which is outside the maximum passengers allowed in the vehicle, and was driven by a rash and negligence towards Mysur from Nanjangud around 17 December 2010.
The vehicle fell into the lake, leading to death of 31 people and injuries to several others. According to Mrs. Sowmya, four minors, 26 women and one man belonged to the deceased.
The driver escaped and left the vehicle without informing the police. The accused repeatedly violated the conditions of the vehicle permit and carried more passengers than the maximum allowed limit.
The case was registered at the Mysuro Police Station South and the representative of the police CD Jagadish conducted an investigation and submitted charges.
