The Premier League Southampton Party has confirmed that the name of the 32 -year -old will still be his new three -year contract manager, while the Belgian Englishman is to lead the club back to the highest flight after the turbulent season.
The South Coast Club, which in April tolerated his first from the Premier League after the defeat of Tottenham Hotspur to Tottenham Hotspur, did not waste his time by securing his next leader. The loss for Spurs sealed Southampton’s fate with the seven games left to play, leading to the departure of Croatian manager Ivan Juric the next day.
Yet, who was headed by the French side lens of Ligue 1, last week decided to leave his position in the club and express the desire to return to Great Britain for what he promises to be an exciting new chapter in Southampton.
“I’m excited about the opportunity here in Southampton. There is a huge potential and I believe we have a chance to do something special,” said Still, who signed a three -year agreement on Sunday. “The project that was set to me is very impressive. I am eager to start building a strong and narrow group that can eventually get us back to where we belong: in the Premier League.”
He is still taking over from Ivan Juric, whose possession in St Mary’s was disrupted by the catastrophic decline in the club to the championship. Despite the best efforts of Juric, the saints could not avoid the descent and ended up in 19th place. Given the task of returning Southampton to the Premier League, he still brings a lot of experience from his time in the lens, where he made a name for himself with a clear tactical philosophy and impressive leadership.
Group technical director Johannes Sports appreciated Still’s authorization and emphasized his innovative approach and strong leadership. “Will is a young, innovative manager who has already gained a significant experience, and we were very impressed by his record and our conversations with him,” Sports said. “The most excel in his clarity of vision and his adaptability. These qualities will be necessary to navigate the next season at the championship.”
Sports also emphasized Still’s ability to promote positive team culture and stated that his values and personality made him perfect fit for an ambitious new project in Southampton. “We believe it will help us build a clear identity and a positive future for the team,” Sports added.
The appointment still signals a new era of saints as it tries to bounce back from their nightmare descent. Fans will eagerly see how they shape the group during the summer and build a team capable of competing on the top of the championship.
Still’s departure from the lens met with recognition, and the French club issued a statement that appreciated his contributions. “It embodies RCL values due to its durability, passion and authenticity,” the club said. They also confirmed that Still’s brothers, Edward and Nicolas would leave the lens, even if it remains unclear whether to join him in Southampton.
This Sunday is expected to be at the St Mary stadium at Stadion St Mary for the Premier League final accessories in the season against Arsenal.
