On Tuesday, District Collector A. Siri visited the Greenko Integrated Renewable Energy project in Gummitham Tanda in Orvakal Mandal. She interact with the project progress officials.
Project director Ch. Srinivas Rao reported collectors about Irep and stressed that it was the world’s first and largest drawing project in the world with a capacity of 1680 MW, integrated with 4,000 MW solar capacity (distributed across Kurnool and Nandyal districts) in a total of 6680 MW of renewable energies.
The collector asked about generation and drawing processes, as well as for land requirements, for ongoing and upcoming works. Later Mrs. Siri approached the website and had an overview of the components of the drawn storage project (PSP), starting with the tail channel.
The collector was informed about receiving structures, water requirements 2.35 TMCFT, differences in altitude between reservoirs and reuse of dug materials for recesses of rock membranes. The collector also observed the watercourse through suction structures and appreciated the accepted engineering solutions.
During her visit to the Powerhouse, the collector interact with engineers about turbine operations, head differences, and configuration of 8 Františské turbines (6 units 240 MW and 2 units 120 MW). The collector personally inspected the floors of the turbine and the generator.
The collector also visited the upper reservoir, where the neighboring Pinnapuram solar facility was visible by 700 MW. Discussions took place on solar module capacities, procedures of erection of wind towers and involved time axis.
She also observed Penstocks and the upper intake structure, interested in how water passes through the Penstock Powerhouse. The collector asked the project officials to ensure early completion of works with strict adherence to quality and safety standards, prefer the efficient use of land and actively deal with local concerns.
Mrs. Siri also visited the steel plant Jai Raj Ispat in the village of Guttapad in Orvakal Mandala and communicated with the leadership.
