A parking lot at the Prabuddha Academy campus in suburban Kalaburagi collapsed late on Tuesday following heavy rain and strong winds, raising concerns about the quality of the building’s construction.
The shed, built by the Earth Army, collapsed during a downpour. No casualties or damage to vehicles were reported, according to sources.
The incident comes close to a similar structural collapse at the academy. About two weeks ago, the roof of the cafeteria collapsed, prompting allegations of substandard construction.
Following the incident, Assistant Executive Engineer, Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL) Saurabh Bhiman was suspended.
Prabuddha Academy, which runs a coaching center for aspirants preparing for competitive exams, was built on an area of 10,000 square feet at a cost of ₹30 crore. It was inaugurated in January 2026.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Avvanna Myakeri said the latest incident shows the poor quality of work. He noted that the parking garage is adjacent to the building where the roof collapsed earlier.
He said the subsequent incidents had raised serious concerns about security on campus and called for a detailed investigation into the construction of the academy building.
