Reiterating his government’s commitment to develop the erstwhile Adilabad district in all areas, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said a university would be set up at IIIT-Basar in Nirmal district and an industrial corridor would be built in Adilabad district.
He reiterated that the barrage would be constructed at Tummidihatti under the Pranahita-Chevella project in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district. He emphasized the need for joint efforts for the development of the state across political lines and promised to put the erstwhile composite district of Adilabad on the path of development at par with the erstwhile Mahabubnagar (Palamuru) district.
“I am ready to meet anyone, many times, for the sake of the development of the state,” he declared. The Chief Minister was addressing a public meeting in Nirmal on Friday late afternoon.

Earlier in the day, he inaugurated the pumping station of the Chanaka-Korata barrage across the Penganga river by releasing water into the main channel near Hathighat in Adilabad district. He also inaugurated the Sadarmat Barrage across the Godavari River at Ponkal village in Nirmal district. He released water for rabi crops amid festive atmosphere at Sadarmat Barrage.
Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Excise and Prohibition Minister Jupalla Krishna Rao accompanied the Chief Minister.
Mr. Reddy criticized the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government for failing to ensure development projects from the Centre. He alleged that the old undivided district of Adilabad was closed to the raw trade of irrigation and other vital sectors during the nearly decade-long rule by the apathetic BRS regime.
“I will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi or anyone for the development of Telangana. Along with my cabinet colleagues, I have met the Prime Minister and Union Ministers several times in New Delhi to approve funds for various development projects in the state,” he said.
“After our sustained efforts, we got approval for the construction of airports at Mamnoor near Warangal and in Adilabad,” he said, rebutting BRS’s criticism of their meetings in Delhi. “There is no personal agenda behind such meetings and the sole purpose is to steer the state on the path of development,” he added.
BJP MLAs and MPs should also strive to get development projects and funds from the Centre, he said, adding, “We will invite the Prime Minister for the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Adilabad Airport.” The Chief Minister announced the sanction of Advanced Technology Center at Nirmal and ₹22 crore for the development of Naboga jatara site in Adilabad district.
