The helicopter carrying Chief Minister Siddaramaiah landed at the wrong helipad at Lingasagur in Raichur district on February 8 due to miscommunication, police department sources said.
Mr. Siddaramaiah was in the city to attend the wedding of the grandson of Amaregouda Bayyapur, MLA.
The district administration has prepared a total of three heliports in Lingasagur town. Two heliports, located near Raichur Road, were prepared for the respective landings of the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister, who were in separate helicopters. Another, near Kalaburagi Road, was ready for a helicopter with Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi.
Instead of landing the Chief Minister’s helicopter at the helipad near Raichur Road, the pilot landed him at the helipad near Kalaburagi Street.
On receiving this information, Deputy Commissioner Nitish K, Superintendent of Police Arunangshu Giri and other protocol officers, who were waiting at the helipad near Raichur Road, rushed to the second helipad to receive the Chief Minister. But he was already on his way to the spot with the escorting police personnel deployed to receive Mr. Jarkiholi.
The deputy commissioner said no inquiry into the incident had been ordered.
