The officers of the Shivamogg district had a difficult time responding to the chairman and members of the Karnataka State Commission for the protection of the child’s rights during the inspection meeting in Shivamogg on Tuesday.
At one point, the committee members expressed a shock of lack of action with regard to the safety of children in residential schools and believed that they were disappointed by the conduct of the Karnataka Children’s Protection 2016.
The inspection meeting was convened under the chairman of the K. Naggan Gowda Commission. He and the members reviewed responsibilities and programs dealing with various departments, including the development of women and children, education, social security and health.
In reviewing the security measures of children at residential schools, members raised the problem of alleged sexual abuse of children in the district a few months ago. The watchman published in the hostel reportedly sexually abused several girls in the hostel.
The Social Security Department officers failed to provide details of an action against employees whose negligence led to a crime. Members who were dissatisfied with the answer took the officer for the task. They found that they had the impression that in Shivamogg, which was one of the developed districts, the rights of children were well protected. But the real situation was the opposite.
Medical department officers did not have data on surprising inspections in scanning centers, dead born, immunization in children over 10 years, among other things. Members felt that officers came without preparing for a meeting. Many officers did not answer questions about their duties under the policy of the protection of children and the provisions of the Act on the Protection of Children from Sexual Criminal offenses of 2012.
Deputy Commissioner Gurudtt Hegde, CEO of Zilla Panchayat n. Hemanth, SHASHIR KOSAMBE Commission, Thipeswamy KT, S. Manju, Venkatesh and M. Kolla apparatus were prepared.
