Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), has embarked on an official visit to Brazil.
The visit from December 9 to 12 is aimed at consolidating the strong and ever-expanding maritime partnership between the Indian Navy and the Brazilian Navy – a cornerstone of the broader India-Brazil strategic partnership.
According to the Indian Navy, the CNS will hold high-level talks with the Brazilian senior leadership, including the defense minister. Jose Mucio, Admiral Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Brazilian Armed Forces, and Admiral Marcos Sampaio Olsen, Commander of the Brazilian Navy. These engagements will provide an opportunity to review ongoing bilateral maritime cooperation, strengthen operational-level linkages, and explore new avenues of cooperation between the two navies.
The visit also includes interactions with key operational headquarters as well as visits to naval bases and shipyards of the Brazilian Navy.
Discussions will focus on shared maritime priorities, maritime interoperability, capacity building and enhanced cooperation in multilateral frameworks, including broader South-South cooperation.
The visit reaffirms the Indian Navy’s commitment to deepen cooperation with the Brazilian Navy in maritime security, professional exchanges and capacity building – contributing to greater stability and security in the global maritime community.
