Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the silver jubilee celebrations of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) here on Tuesday.
Souvenirs in English and Malayalam will be launched on the occasion at KIIFB and bot software in the institution. Prizes for the best implementing agencies of KIIFB projects and contractors will also be presented at the function.
Finance Minister KN Balagopal will preside over the function scheduled at 6 pm at Nishagandhi Auditorium. Established on November 11, 1999, the KIIFB assumed its current form through an amendment to the Act in 2016 under the then Left Democratic Front (LDF) government.
According to the government, KIIFB has 1,190 projects worth ₹ 90,562 crore approved till date in various sectors. It has spent ₹37,388 crore so far. Projects worth ₹21,881 crore have been completed and work on projects worth ₹27,273 crore is in progress.
The public works department has the highest number of projects; 516 projects with a total value of ₹ 34,330 crore. The next highest allocations are as follows: Water Resources (CZK 6,995 million), Health (CZK 6,670 million), Energy (CZK 6,200 million), Coastal Transport and Inland Navigation (CZK 3,518 million) and General Education (CZK 3,220 million).
In the coming years, KIIFB will manage critical infrastructure development projects, including the Vizhinjam-Kollam-Punalur Industrial and Economic Growth Triangle Project. The government has also announced plans for more revenue generating projects under KIIFB.
KIIFB CEO KM Abraham will deliver a presentation on ‘Nava Kerala Vision and KIIFB’ at the event on Tuesday. Ministers and government officials will be present.
