The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has responded positively to the demand for widening and reconstruction of a key stretch of State Highway 150A connecting parts of Kalyana Karnataka. It has included the Hattigudur-Tinthini Bridge-Lingsugur section in its annual plan for 2026-27, Raichur MP G. Kumar Naik said.
In a statement, the MP said he had written to Union Road Transport and Highways Secretary V Umashankar on April 15, 2026, urging the department to immediately take up the widening and reconstruction of the Shahapur-Hattigudur-Lingsugur section of NH 150A, which falls under the Raichur Lok Sabha constituency.
Mr. Naik pointed out that NH 150A is one of the key routes connecting Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir and Raichur districts to Bengaluru and is used by thousands of commercial and passenger vehicles daily.
“However, the Hattigudur-Lingsugur stretch has only a 5.5m wide road, which causes considerable inconvenience to commuters and motorists. The narrow road also witnesses frequent serious accidents with loss of life,” he said in his representation at the centre.
On the MP’s request, the ministry and the National Road Authority have now included the widening and reconstruction of the Hattigudur-Tinthini Bridge-Lingsugur section in Yadgir district in the 2026-27 annual plan.
The authorities informed that a detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared shortly and the work will be started after that.
Mr. Naik said the proposed road development work will significantly boost the social and economic development of Yadgir and Raichur districts, which are among the backward and ambitious districts of Karnataka, besides fulfilling a long-standing demand of the public.
