Victory celebrations after civic elections turned tragic at Periyambalam near Kondotta on Saturday (December 13) when a bag of biscuits stowed on a scooter caught fire and exploded, killing a 27-year-old man.
Irshad, son of Moideenkutty Palekkodan of Periyambalam, was sitting on a scooter celebrating the UDF’s victory in Cherukavu panchayat when the bundle of crackers caught fire.
He suffered severe burns in the explosion. He was rushed to Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode. But he died on the way.
