A 23-year-old care worker filed a complaint at the Mico Layout police station alleging harassment and physical abuse by her employers, with whom she had been working for the past six years.
According to the complaint, the woman was employed by Amar and Anshu to take care of their children and lived with the family at the IIMB campus in Bengaluru. She claimed that since 2021 her employers have denied her proper food, physically assaulted her during disagreements, and frequently confiscated and searched her cell phone.
The complainant further stated that Anshu allegedly assaulted her several times. In a recent incident on April 15 around 2:30 a.m., she was allegedly beaten after she woke up and tried to talk to others. Out of fear, she said she did not inform anyone about the abuse earlier.
She also claimed that she was not allowed to go out freely and her movements were constantly monitored. The woman claimed that on May 4, after being denied food, she sought help from neighbors who provided her with bananas and packets of bread.
With the help of neighbours, she contacted her aunt living in Bengaluru and later informed members of the Kuki student organization in Bangalore about the alleged abuse.
The woman has now asked the police to take legal action against the couple for allegedly subjecting her to mental and physical harassment. Police are investigating the complaint.
