
The much awaited annual flower festival ‘Vasantholsavam’ will be held in the capital between the last week of December and the first week of the new year along with a festival of lights that will illuminate the city’s streets and heritage structures. This year’s festival of flowers and lights will be organized on a larger scale to make it a memorable and joyful gathering for both tourists and local residents of PA Moham to form the Tourism Committee, Conven Risyas event on Wednesday.
Since the festival coincides with the inbound tourism season, it should be planned and organized carefully to enhance the charm and atmosphere of the city, the minister said. The festival is organized by the Department of Tourism and District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC). An organizing committee has been formed, with General Education and Labor Minister V Sivankutty and Food and Civil Supplies Minister GR Anil as the main patrons. MPs and MLAs from the district and the District Panchayat President are the patrons.
The Vasantholsavam will be organized in coordination with the Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical Botanical Garden and Research Institute, Palode, which also curated the last edition. The cooperation of kindergartens in the city and suburban areas will be ensured. Various competitions will also be part of the festival.
