What does the package consist of?
Scheme of the financial assistance of ships (SBFAS) will be extended to 31 March 2036 with the total fund £24 736 crore. The aim of the system is to support the construction of ships in India. In addition, a national mission to build boats for management of all related initiatives will be set up.
Was approved by a maritime development fund (MDF) with a corpus £25,000 crore to support long -term financing in this industry. Includes a £20,000 Investment Fund for Maritime Investment, with 49% of AA Government £5,000 crore interest incentive funds aimed at reducing debts’ costs and improving the financial feasibility of the project.
The development system of boat construction with budget £19,989 Crore, plans to increase the construction capacity of domestic ships to 4.5 million gross tonnage per year. Its aim is to strengthen mega boat construction, expand the infrastructure, set up an Indian Technology Center under the Indian Maritime University and offer risk coverage, including support for boat construction projects.
The impact of the package
The government noted that the proposed package could drive 4.5 million gross tonnage capacity of boat construction, create nearly 30 lake jobs and attract around £4.5 Lakh crore in investment in the Indian naval industry.
In addition to its economic impact, the package is expected to strengthen national, energy and food safety by bringing resistance to critical supplier chains and maritime routes, the government said.
