
The intense campaigning of political parties and their candidates across Tamil Nadu for the Assembly elections will end on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 6 PM. Polling in all 234 constituencies will begin on April 23 at 7 am. All political functionaries and party workers who are not precinct voters must vacate immediately after 6pm on Tuesday.
There are a total of 4023 candidates in the fray. Senior BJP leaders led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah; Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and DK Shivakumar; Telugu Desam Party leader and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu; AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal; and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav were among the leaders who visited the state for election campaigning in the last few weeks.
