Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former minister T. Harish Rao alleged that the Congress had corrupted every established system in the state, including the legislature, and opposed its demand to hold sessions for at least 45 days in a year, when the opposition held sessions for only 40 days in two years.
In an informal chat with reporters on the eve of the winter session of the Assembly on Sunday, he recalled that the BRS government in the past conducted sessions on an average of 32 days a year as against 20 of the Congress. The Congress government ruled the Assembly for 24 days in 2024 and just 16 days in 2025.
Of the 40 days of the session during the last two years, two days went to condolence motions, three days to table white papers, one day to discuss the Kaleshwaram Commission report and one day to improve backward class reservations. He demanded the government to hold this meeting for at least 15 working days and BRS was ready to engage in the discussion of any topic raised by the government. At the same time, he appealed to the government to also start discussing the issues raised by the BRS.
