BRICS Parliament forum on 4.-5. June in Brasilia, Brazil, a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir strongly condemned, with parliamentary members agreed collectively against terrorism.
Forum was attended by representatives of ten countries: India, Brazil, Russia, China, South Africa, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Ethiopia and Indonesia.
After several rounds of intensive discussions and negotiations, the forum achieved a wide consensus on key global issues, including responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI), global trade and economy, interparliamentary cooperation and global peace and security.
During the meeting, Indian solid policy against terrorism was strongly recognized. The country clearly condemned all terrorist attacks and strongly advocated the adoption of policy of zero tolerance to terrorism.
A joint statement issued by the forum strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India and repeated the commitment of Member Parliaments to act collectively against terrorism.
Lok Sabha Om Birla speaker emphasized the need for joint efforts to reduce financial support to terrorist organizations, strengthen intelligence sharing, prevent abuse of emerging technologies, and support cooperation in investigation and court processes.
India has taken over the Parliamentary forum of the BRICS forum and will host the 12th meeting next year. Mr. Birla was formally handed over to the Parliamentary forum BRICS held in Brasilia.
