The Bombay High Court ordered the release on Wednesday (April 29, 2026). Sharad Kalaskarconvicted in the 2013 murder of rationalist Narendra Dabholkar, noting doubts about his identification as the assailant. Divisional Judge Ajay Gadkari and Justice Ranjitsinha Bhonsale ordered him to furnish bail of ₹50,000.
The bench was hearing an interim application filed by Mr. Kalaskar, who appealed against his conviction in a special court in 2024. He applied for bail pending an appeal.
