The leader of PMK Anbumani Ramadoss on Sunday urged the state government to enable political parties to organize the Assembly and Assembly in public places “until the safety regulations for public meetings”. He called on political parties to adopt and adhere to adequate conditions deposited by the government for the safe behavior of political meetings.
In his statement, he stated that it was unacceptable to impose a blanket on all political events quoting one tragic incident (Karur Stampede) “where the organizers (actor Vijay’s TVK) did not follow the rules and the police did not manage this event”.
The assembly authorization, previously granted to political parties, including PMK, was canceled and new applications were rejected on the basis of certain orders issued by Madurai Bench of Madras High Court, which heard a petition related to the death of 41 people in TVK rally in Karur 27.
“In an interim Order on Those Petitions, The Madurai Bench Has Directed That ‘No Party Shall Be Permitted to Hold Public Meetings on National or State Highways’. The Interim Order Says This Ban Does Not Apply to Places Alreedy Allocated Meetings in Any Area, The Officers Concerned Must Identify and Provide Such Locations to Political Parties. Anbumani.
He added: “Permissions provided for PMK’s Padayatra Tours in Madurai and Tirunelvel have been canceled and permission was only granted to organize meetings outside the city center.
