Guntur Government General Hospital (GGH) Deputy Director and Head of Pathology and Blood Bank B. Sridhar said on Saturday that donating blood is one of the most generous gifts one can offer.
Addressing a blood donation camp organized by VIT-AP University in collaboration with Guntur GGH at its campus as part of the 87th birthday celebrations of VIT Group Founder and Chancellor G. Viswanathan Dr. Sridhar said it was inspiring to see the large turnout of students contributing to a noble cause.
VIT-AP University Vice-Chancellor-in-Charge P. Arulmozhivarman said that donating blood is a life-saving act, a simple yet effective way to make a direct impact. “On the special occasion of Mr. Viswanathan’s birthday, we are proud to continue his legacy of service to society,” he said.
Around 500 students, staff and faculty members participated in the camp and the organizers said the collected blood will be used to meet the requirements of patients in need, especially those undergoing surgery, trauma care and other treatment at GGH.
Registrar M. Jagadish Chandra, Deputy Vice President HDFC Bank Indraganti Sarma, Deputy Director Student Welfare VIT-AP University Khadeer Pasha and others were present.
