The BJP is demanding the resignation of the Chief Minister, Leader of Opposition and 137 MLAs
The BJP Kollam East district committee will hold a rally and protest rally in Punalur on Wednesday demanding the resignation of Chief Minister VD Satheesan, Leader of Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan and 137 MLAs for protesting against the SIR in the voter rolls.
In a press conference, BJP leaders alleged that the INDIA bloc is undermining the democratic system and fomenting unrest across the country by falsely claiming that SIR is illegal. Leaders argued that if there is any moral authority behind the statements of Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister VD Satheesan must resign immediately.
The leadership said they had earlier staged marches and put up protest boards outside the residences of five MLAs in the district, with the upcoming Punalur assembly serving as a continuation of these ongoing agitations. In addition to key political issues, the rally will include pressing livelihood concerns facing the people of the eastern highlands. Party officials said the escalating human-wildlife conflict has become a serious threat to lives and property in the area. They criticized the state government for failing to implement effective and lasting solutions while farmers and ordinary citizens continue to live in fear.
BJP leaders demanded urgent government intervention to take scientific and permanent measures against wild animal attacks to ensure public safety. BJP State Vice President and former DGP R. Sreelekha will inaugurate the protest rally, District President Raji Prasad will preside over the event and State Secretary Shyamraj will deliver the keynote address.
