
On Tuesday, the State Assembly was presented by the Act on the Registration of Kerala 2025, which assumes a single nationwide right for companies and seeks to bring transparency and responsibility in its functioning.
Through this important bill, the state government seeks to adopt a law that replaces the registration of companies from 1860 (No. 21), related to the old Malabar region and the Travancore-Cochin Act, a 1955 scientist (ACT XII of 1955), which is applicable to old Travancore-Cochin.
The Minister for Registration of KadannaPally Ramacandran submitted the bill in the Assembly, noted that two old deeds were returned to the state of Keral and contain different provisions. This leads to administrative problems because of a situation where different laws apply to different talos in the same district. Some of the well -known institutions in Kerala were registered according to two old acts. In addition to the Act on the Act on Cooperative Companies, the institutions are currently operating according to these two laws.

Currently, the registration Act of 1860 (No. 21) applies to the old Malabar region, consisting of Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, other regions other than Nenmara and Chittur in the Palakkad district, Chavakkad Taluk in Thrissur and Fort Kochi. The Literary, Scientific and Charity Society of Travancore-Cochin, 1955 (act XII of 1955) applies to the regions of today’s Kerala.
