
PA Public Works Minister Mohamed Riyas laid the foundation stone of the Bekal Tourism Village project at Kasaragod on Friday through online mode.
The project will come up on 33.18 acres in Ajanur panchayat and is expected to become a major addition to the tourism infrastructure of the Bekal region. It will be implemented by Bekal Resorts Development Corporation (BRDC).
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Riyas said that the tourism sector of Kerala has seen significant progress in recent years. Despite the serious challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the state could revive the sector by consulting experts and introducing several initiatives.
The first phase of the project is expected to cost ₹200 crore.
MLA E. Chandrasekharan and CH Kunhambu were the chief guests.
