Members of the Association for Teachers of Elementary Teachers Andhra Pradesh (Appa) strongly condemned the assignment of schools in distant areas on a minimum time variety (MTS), who work for very low salaries.
In his statement, President Appa AGS Ganapathi Rao and the Secretary General of K. Prakash Rao said many of these teachers are approaching retirement. They pointed out that after recent promotional events and transfers in school education, several schools, especially schools in distant areas of districts, were completely unoccupied. Teachers who have not yet been relieved from their previous posts are now instructed to return and work in these empty schools.
According to the current situation in all districts, many such schools are managed in this temporary way until the new recruits are connected from the upcoming DSC process (District Selection Commission). At present, schools that have lost all pedagogical staff are referred to as unoccupied and assigned to MTS teachers, forcing them to work in distant areas far from their homes.
The Appa manager appealed to school education commissioners to consider the situation with a humanitarian perspective and instead assigned MTS teachers to call closer to their local areas. Referring to the assurances provided to them, that the new teachers would be appointed through the DSC in the first week of August, called on the School Education Department to revise their current decisions and manage MTS teachers.
The head of the Appa said they were presented in writing by the Minister of Hrda Nara Lolesh and the school education commissioner Vijay Rama Raja in this matter.
