The small independent publishers of Kannada books have teamed up with booksellers and writers to create a new association “Karnataka Booksellers, Publishers and Writers of the Association” to regularly revive the book festival Bengalur and regularly organize similar book festivals in other districts.
The new association will be inaugurated on Wednesday. We know independent publishers such as Aharnishi, Pallava, Ruthuman, Akruthi, Jeerunde have already become members of the Association.
“There are two such associations now. But both associations are dominated by large publishers and small independent publishers as we are, nor do we have a word or no space in these associations. Our problems and demands are different.
“Both existing associations have only publishers and do not include booksellers and writers. We think we have to include the whole ecosystem to work effectively,” he said.
“We intend to organize workshops for publishers on professional aspects of publishing, such as printing, online sales, sale of translation and adaptable books we publish, among other things. As an association we want to see whether we can also create a distribution network and make them available to our publishers, for example, to make our publishers It could have been that it could be so that it could be possible to make it possible for it to be picked up for translation.
As part of its goal, to provide a distribution network for publishers, the association wants to revive the Bengaluru Book Festival, which was an annual function before and was not held from pandemic.
“Book festivals are a very large source of income for books and bookseller. At present, the only way is Kannada Sahity Sammelan. We want to negotiate with the government and revive the book festival Bengaluru if possible.
