The Legislative Assembly of West Bengal on Tuesday (June 10, 2025) unanimously approved the “resolution on the recognition of the Indian Armed Forces”. The speaker Biman Banerjee claimed that this was the first case of the Assembly, which, after a recent conflict with Pakistan, supported a resolution to support the armed forces.
The legislators of the party Bharatiya Janata also joined the debate and supported the resolution, but raised questions about why the reference to the “operation of the Sindoor” was missing in the resolution.
“This house praises the coordinated efforts of the various wings of the Indian armed forces in targeting with the absolute accuracy and destruction of large terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan, which occupied Kashmir (POK), and recorded its gratitude and recognition for their relentless efforts to protect the pride and dignity of the nation.”
The main Minister Mamata Baerjee said that another assembly in the country and parliament should bring similar resolutions.
However, Mrs. Banerjee launched a scary attack on the Union government and said that in all numbers “on domestic and international” failed to collect news to arrest the perpetrator of the terrorist attack of Pahalgam to stop the IMF loan to Pakistan. The main minister said that during the conflict “there was an opportunity to capture Kashmir from Pakistan,” which the government could not earn.
Noisy
The three -hour debate witnessed noisy scenes with the legislators of BJP, who kept the slogans during the main minister’s speech, and previously members of the state desks interrupt the opposition leader ADHIKARI.
The main minister stressed that “terrorism” had no religion and stressed that the forces and agencies for the border guard should be more vigilant in the future. Mrs. Banerjee, who was disturbed by repeated disturbances of BJP legislators, said the government had failed in all numbers and “must resign”. She also accused the leadership of the BJP with the politicization of the “Sindoor Operation”. While the BJP lawmakers tried to disrupt the speech by singing “modi-modern”, Trinamool Mla raised the slogans “didi-didi”.
Mrs. Banerjee also focused on fashion designer BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul and said that “she will listen to her fashion and not politics”. This triggered a sharp reaction of BJP legislators, including Mr. Adhikari.
Adhikari participated in the debate and repeatedly asked, “What is the problem called Sindoor Operation” and why there was no reference to the Sindoor operation in the text of the resolution. The BJP leader also urged the speaker to include a “targeted killing” on the Pahalgam in the text. The speaker said that, since the opposition leader did not submit a written change in the resolution, his application cannot be accepted. Mr. Adhikari said that at least three Congress legislators have made a derogatory comments on the “Sindoor” operation.
A hand broke out in the house when Mr. Adhikari accused the Minister of West Bengal Udayan Guh of targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his recent notes and the Minister said he did not hesitate to repeat the notes in the future. The head Ministers of Bratya Basa and Chandrima Bhattacharya attended the Ministers of the Treasury Ministers, while the BJP lawmakers spoke in the language of Santhal and Kurmali in participation in the debate. The Indian secular front of the MLA Nawshad Siddique also participated in the debate and supported the resolution.
This was the second case that the Congress of Trinamool and the BJP legislators unanimously adopted a resolution. Previously, in August 2024 a few oppositions and benches of the Ministry of Finance unanimously passed a resolution against any division of West Bengal.
