The army carries out extensive humanitarian assistance missions and disasters (rag) in areas affected by floods across the country with a special focus on the worst area of Panjab, Himacal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
On Tuesday (September 9), Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit areas affected by floods in Pandjab, where incoming rains and overflowing rivers caused extensive devastation.

According to the army, there is an effort for help from April 2025 and performs a mission rag in 75 locations across the country.
With 126 deployed columns saved units of over 21,500 civilians, provided medical assistance nearly 9,700 people and supplied 23,500 kg of auxiliary vans. The engineers built 29 bridges and strengthened the Bundhs in 12 places, while the helicopters flew 500 plus hours in rescue and supply missions, the army said.
In Panjab, where the floods hit the most difficult, 48 rescue columns were deployed, saved 10,000 civilians, helped 4,700 people and supplied 12,500 kg of costs. Army helicopters themselves recorded 250 plus hours in the state, even evacuating 500 security staff, including BSF soldiers, from ahead, he added.
He said that from Pandjab’s plains to distant interiors the army again lived its ethos “services ahead” and stood firmly like a national shield in times of crisis.
