The finance ministry benches in the Andhra Pradesh legislature were unhappy with revenue minister Anagani Satya Prasad’s reply on Friday that most of the petitions and complaints related to his department had been resolved.
TDP MLAs Dhulipala Narendra, Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary and others, who raised the issue during question hour on Friday, said that the petitioners are yet to get justice though they submitted their pleas during the Revenue Sadassulu.
Closing petitions is not the answer. Bringing justice is necessary. Many tracts of land are still earmarked under 22 A (prohibited list) so it is unfortunate for people. Dalits, BCs and all are suffering, they said.
Chintakayala chairperson Ayyanna Patrudu directed that state-level meetings be held with the concerned district collectors and joint collectors to address the issue. According to him, the Chief Minister should also be present.
Mr. Satya Prasad informed the House that 2,34,644 applications were received during the tax conferences. Of these, 1,85,731 related to revenue-related matters such as land records, mutations, pattas and other administrative matters, while 48,913 petitions related to survey-related concerns, including boundary disputes and land assessment.
On further classification, the minister said 659 complaints were identified as financial in nature involving compensation or monetary claims, while the remaining 2,33,985 were categorized as non-financial matters.
Mr. Satya Prasad said that 2,33,578 complaints have already been resolved. He described the resolution rate as a significant success and proof of the administration’s commitment to transparent and time-limited handling of complaints.
“Some cases are related to family disputes or court cases. Local elders, sarpanches or MLAs can take the lead in solving them,” the minister said.
In response, the TDP MLAs asked, “Do you want us to do panchayats?”.
