Reacting to the incident where a pregnant woman died allegedly due to doctor’s negligence, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to investigate the matter and take strict action against those responsible.
According to a press release, the eight-month pregnant woman from East Godavari was undergoing treatment at the Kakinada Government General Hospital. While the case sheet said she was diabetic, hypertensive and allergic to pantoprazole, a drug used to treat acidity, the PG student allegedly injected her with ‘Pantop’ on November 20.
The patient suffered seizures and later went into cardiac arrest, which led to her death, the report said. Lack of supervision by the assistant professor was also blamed for the incident.
Also at Rajamahendravaram Government Hospital, a 55-year-old patient’s condition deteriorated after hospital staff allegedly administered expired medicines.
The Chief Minister has directed senior officials to conduct a thorough investigation of the concerned medical personnel and take necessary action. He also directed the officials concerned to provide assistance to the family of the pregnant woman.
