In an effort to correct the ties and rapid monitoring of the trade agreement in India-USA, the US Ambassador-Urching with India and the special ambassador of President Donald Trump for South and Central Asian Affairs Sergio Gor arrived on Saturday (October 11, 2025) and met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Mr. Gor, who has been in Nový Delhi for several days, will only take up “in the New Year”, said the US embassy and increased speculation that it is here to reinforce the details of the meeting between Mr. Trump and Mr. Modi on the secondary dormitory of the upcoming ASEAN 26 and 27 summit summits.

“I am convinced that his tenure will further strengthen India-Complex global strategic partnership,” PM Modi said on X. In the post, Mr. Gor said he was convinced that the US-India relationship “only strengthens in the coming months”.
Mr. Gor told reporters that he was discussing two -sided questions with PM modim, including defense, trade and technology. “We also discussed the importance of critical minerals and the importance of both our nations,” he added.
Mr. Gor met with Prime Minister Modim, Minister of the External Affairs S. Jaishankar, the National Security Advisor, and Foreign Minister Vikram Misri at the series meeting series on Saturday (October 11, 2025). The intensity of meeting with Indian foreign policy leadership is an indicator of the eagerness of the US government to re -reach the relations between India and the US and the Sindoor operation after months of tensions over 50% of the Indian goods. PM Modi and Mr. Trump, however, had two phone calls in the last month, which increased hope that they could fix a burst in ties.
In particular, any movement of India about reducing its income by the Russian Urals will be closely monitored, and the level of import has been immersed despite larger discounts in recent weeks.
It is assumed that Modi’s praise and Mr. Trump’s tweets in seven different languages are assumed that Mr. Trump’s obvious inconvenience is that India has not joined other countries to support him for the Nobel Peace Prize and denied the US.
It is also expected that the latest China-USA, which led the US to introduce 100% tariffs on Chinese goods for retaliation for limiting Chinese trade in critical mineral trade, will be more attractive to both parties.
“He discussed the relationship in India and its global significance,” said Mr. Jaishankar on social media after meeting with Mr. Gor and wishing him for his new responsibility in Delhi. According to the Ministry of the Ministry for external affairs, Mr. Gor and Mr. Misri had “productive exchange for a comprehensive global strategic partnership in India and his shared priorities”.
Mr. Gor is accompanied by a representative of the secretary for management and resources Michael J. Rigas, coming days after the US Senate confirmed his appointment by the US Ambassador in India. His visit is unusual because, according to a normal protocol, he arrives in Delhi and performs meetings only after he submitted his mandate to the President Drroumumu.
The timing of the meeting, just a few weeks before the ASEAN summit, and the unorthodox way of American diplomacy are considered to be a sudden visit. In particular, it is assumed that Mr. Gor has said the urgency of completing a trade agreement in India and the US at the earliest before the leaders meet.

According to the release of the US Foreign Ministry, Mr. Gor was supposed to be in India from 9 to 14 October. However, he participated in the Indian Embassy Deepavali in Washington, October 10, than on Saturday (October 11, 2025), arrived in Delhi. According to sources, Mr. Gor will remain at the US Embassy of the IS by other parties in Delhi for the next few days. He is expected to return later to submit his credentials and take over the US Embassy in Delhi and a role in the region.
“We are looking forward to his permanent step in the New Year, but we will hit the ground,” said the US embassy in Delhi in a statement and described him as his “first official visit”.
