In his native village, Pherassery in the Kannur district, a great honor for the life and inheritance of the Communist statwart AK Gopalana is formed. The AKG Museum, which is being prepared for inauguration, is designed to resonate with future generations and constructed on a 3.21 acre conspiracy obtained by the government near the famous Pelassery Bridge.
The museum project, presented as a cultural and historical center, was moved when the Chief Minister of Pinarayi Vijayan laid the foundation stone in February 2021. With a total expenditure of 25 Crore, covering land, construction and infrastructure, the initiative is carried out in multiple phases.
Two -storey museum building
In the first phase, a two -storey building of the museum was completed, including 10,737 square feet at the price of 6.59 crore. The museum promises a multidimensional experience of the life of AK gooplanes, fighting and political paths. Visitors will go through curatorial visual, rare documents, archive photographs and exhibitions improved technologies of extended and virtual reality. The digital library will provide a deeper approach to the writings, manifestations and historical documents of AKG, while the documents of his life will be regularly projected.
Community design
In line with its community design, there is also an office, longue, conference hall, toilets and a reduced version of the cult Indian café, ode to the spaces where political discourse was once cooked.
The second phase will see the development of the landscape park and aesthetic ties reaching to the nearby bridge of suspension, which makes the museum part of the wider cultural structure of themelassery.
Before December
“All main works will be completed before December and the museum will be prepared for inauguration,” said AV Sheeba, President of the Peralassery Gram Panchayat.
Once the AKG Museum is inaugurated not only to the legacy of one of the most leaders of Kerala, but also offers space for reflection and learning for students, political enthusiasts and historians.
