
In an effort to reduce Ganja (cannabis), the Kumram Bhe Asifabad police tried to intervene the intervention of the government departments of the concerned to stop the financial assistance in the “Ryth Bharos” to those who were found to be secretly cultivated by Ganda in their agricultural fields.
This step gained importance at a time when the police increased the drive against cultivation and smuggling in Ganja in the Kumram Bheem Asifabad district bordering on Maharashtra.
This has been monitored by a series of air raids that have found cannabis plant growing in Jainoor and Ceramei Mandals in recent weeks.
The working group staff on Sunday (October 5) confiscated 10 cannabis plants in the agricultural area at Kohinoor (K) Village Sirpur (U) Mandal in the district.
Under the Act on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (MDP), up to 51 cases were registered in which 95 persons were arrested in the district this year, the police said.
In 51 cases, the contraband confiscated in various parts of the district included 14.767 kg of dry Ganja and 472 Ganja plants together worth approximately 50 ₹ Lakh.
In his statement, Kumram Bhe Asifabad Superintendent of Police Patil Kantilla Subhash urged people to report incidents of Ganja cultivation, selling and smuggling by dialing 8712670551 or 100.
