The absence of the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee on the 10th Council of the Aayog Administration Council in Nový Delhi on Saturday (May 24, 2025) caused a sharp criticism of opposition parties, especially with regard to the waiting central resources of the state on key systems.
Several main ministers, including MK Stalin (Tamil Nadu), Bhagwant Mann (Pandjáb), Revanth Reddy (Telangana) and Hemant Soren (Jharkhand), took part in the meeting, including MK Stalin (Tamil Nadu). The topic of the meeting was Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat @2047 and marked the first such interaction from the Sindoor operation and the subsequent conflict with Pakistan.
Mrs. Banejee had previously came out of the Aayog meeting in July 2024 and claimed that she had been rejected by the opportunity to speak. After this incident, she announced her decision to refrain from the future meeting of the political think tank.

When she responded to her absence, BJP Rajya Sabha and Samik’s spokesman Bhattachary called it “unfortunate” and stated that the Chief Minister preferred her “political ego” over the interests of the state.
“The Western Bengal’s financial vulnerability is in the alarming phase. Unemployment and migrant work from the state are the main concerns. The main minister was supposed to use this platform to find solutions in cooperation with the center,” Bhattacharya said. “Instead, she missed the key opportunity to present urgent fears of West Bengal.”
The leader of Congress and former President of the State Unit Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury repeated sentiment. “He complains that the funds will not be paid to the state. She should cause a problem at the meeting. If the center did not allow, it could organize a protest there,” he said.
To defend the decision of the Chief Minister Vice President of Congress Trinamool Jay Prakash Majumdar said that CM has no reason to participate in the forum where she was not allowed to speak.
“Last year, it was shown that the Union’s government did not want to listen to what our main minister wanted to say, and therefore its microphone was turned off since the middle of speech. It was an insult. Why would she only participate in such an indignation?” Mr. Majumdar said.
On the same day, political sparring continued on the question of stopped funds to West Bengal. The West Bengal Unit on social media claimed that the Crore 41,883 GBP was paid to the state under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana. However, the Trinamool Congress has issued a pointed refutation and said: “This is an open challenge for @bjp4india: Release the white book about assigning the fund to Bengal pod Awas Yojana after its humiliating defeat in the elections to the collection 2021.
The state continues to claim that a payout within programs such as Mgnrega and PMay has been stopped by the center.
