Under the auspices of the Honorary Consulate of Russia, the International Russophile Movement and the Russkij Mir Foundation, the 81st anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union in World War II was celebrated here on Saturday.
As part of the event, photo exhibitions, seminars and a demonstration of the 81-meter-long St. George’s ribbon by 81 people were organized. Many people, including Russian nuclear specialists, participated in the programs held in Thiruvananthapuram and Koodankulam.
Russian officials spoke of the heavy losses their families suffered during World War II. The event also included an exhibition of photographs capturing key moments from the start of the war to the victory celebrations. The exhibition ended on Sunday.
