Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Saturday (Oct 18, 2025) thanked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) and the BJP for “showing big heart” in accepting NDA’s minor partners, including his LJP (Ram Vilas), in arranging seat-sharing for the Assembly elections.
Mr Paswan met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who has been camping in Bihar since Thursday. He claimed that the NDA would achieve a “historic victory” and mocked the opposition INDIA for alleged internal conflicts.
“We did not fight for a specific number of seats as such. We wanted to contest only from those seats where we had strong representation. I am grateful to BJP and JD(U). Both have shown great heart in arranging NDA’s seat sharing,” said the MP from Hajipur, whose Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) won 29 seats despite not having a single MLA in the outgoing assembly.
Seat allocation
Both the BJP and JD(U) have been allotted 101 seats, while Upendra Kushwaha-led Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustan Awam Morcha (Secular) have been allotted six seats each.
Mr Paswan also took a dig at the INDIA bloc known as ‘Mahagathbandhan’ in Bihar, claiming that “there is so much fighting between the opposition alliance partners”.
“It is not clear whether Tejashwi Yadav is a face or not. RJD, Congress and Left candidates are going to fight each other. NDA on the other hand is all set for a historic victory under Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.
The 243-member Bihar Assembly will go to polls in two phases on November 6 and 11.
Counting of votes will take place on November 14.
