
Organized by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, the Thalassery International Film Festival, held at the Liberty Theater complex, concluded successfully after four days and showcased world cinema on Sunday (October 19).
The closing ceremony was inaugurated by Minister OR Kelu and was attended by dignitaries including Speaker AN Shamseer who felicitated national award winning actor Vijayaraghavan. The festival showcased 55 outstanding international films along with an exhibition commemorating Malayalam literary and film legend MT Vasudevan Nair.
Films that grabbed attention included Alexander Pugna’s Human Animal, Antonella Sudasassi Furniss’s Memories of a Burning Body, Santosh and Satish Babusenan’s Mukhakannadi and VK Afrad’s Malayalam entries Riptide, VC Abhilash and Mayanna’s Pan Indian Story, Marivarayunnu, Nishwasmadil by Abhilash Babulash. Other screenings included Lovable, I Am Still Here, Humans in the Loop, The Room Next Door, In the Name of Fire, Second Chance and Meeting Pol Pot.
The festival paid tribute to famous music director Thalassery K. Raghavan on his 12th death anniversary with a memorial resolution delivered by C. Ajoy. Exhibition, Kaalam; Mayachithrangal, appreciated the literary contributions of Malayalam devotee MT Vasudevan Nair.
The festival ended with an open forum for filmmakers, a discussion program and a musical performance. Thalassery Municipality Chairman KM Jamunarani presided over the inauguration ceremony which was attended by local panchayat presidents, producers and members of Chalachitra Academy.
