Thailand and Cambodia started peace interviews on Monday in Malaysia looking for a “immediate” ceasefire in a deadly border conflict that escalated last week.
Thai acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet started their interviews in the administrative capital of Putrajaya at 15:15 local time (0715 GMT).

1. The leaders of Thailand and Cambodia met in the residence of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who served the chairman of the ASEAN block, members of which are Thailand and Cambodia.
Anwar Ibrahim proposed talks about the ceasefire soon after a border dispute broke into conflict on Thursday, and China and the United States also offered to help in negotiations.

4. China said on Monday that it welcomed efforts to end the fight between Cambodia and Thai, because in Malaysia interviews began to find a ceasefire between Southeast Asian nations.
“We hope that both sides will start from the shared interests of their nations, follow the spirit of peace award and promote good neighborhoods, remain calm and restrict, stop the conflict and end the conflict as soon as possible,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Jiakun.
